Star Bright

Length: 30 minutes
Cost: $3 per student

Twinkle, twinkle little star; let’s find out what you are. Giant balls of gas, burning bright and they are not just out at night. Using new iPad ™ technology, your students will discover an interactive to see the stars and learn how they are arranged into shapes called constellations.  Your students are sure to have a ball in this cosmically charged program.

Weather Wonders

Length: 30 minutes
Cost: $3 per student

Say! What’s the weather like today?  Join us as we explore instruments a meteorologist uses to predict the weather.  Journey through the water cycle, explain high and low pressure, make a cloud, and assemble a rain gauge to take home.  This class will be sure to have your students doing a rain dance. This program will enhance your educational experience with WHNT News 19 Weather Center exhibit sponsored by WHNT News 19.

Dry Ice investigations

Length: 30 minutes
Cost: $3 per student

Bubble, bubble toil and trouble, let’s do some chemistry on the double!  With a pinch of this and a pinch of that, we’ll create all kinds of funky potions using dry ice.  Join us as we make some creepy and cool creations in our chemistry cauldron.

Animal Adaptations

Length: 30 minutes
Cost: $3 per student
 

Students will examine a variety of animal adaptations and discover how some animals can hide in plain sight. Your students will be challenged to examine what makes an adaptation necessary when they use their hands as beaks to gather food for survival.  Sci-Quest’s own live animals will be introduced to help teach camouflage.

Balance It!

Length: 30 minutes
Cost: $3 per student
 

Step up to the challenge! Students will take human body balance challenges to discover how gravity affects balance. Don’t be surprised if your students are falling over in amazement at the tricks the body can’t do as we learn about gravity, center of mass, and forces.

Camping Chemistry

Length: 45 minutes
Cost: $5 per student

Students will be “happy campers” after this program. Students will have fire safety training, examine what fuels a fire, see fire demonstrations, and uncover the chemistry behind the glow stick.

Bug Safari

Length: 30 minutes
Cost: $3 per student

Introduce your students to the world of insects in this creepy crawly program. Learn about the structure and characteristics of insects, see different insect specimens, look at live insect larvae, and receive an insect finger puppet to take home.

Fossil Fun

Length: 30 minutes
Cost: $3 per student

Students are sure to have a rockin’ good time as they learn how fossils are made and why they are important. They can practice techniques used by paleontologists and make a fossil replica to take home.

Kid Concoctions

Length: 30 minutes
Cost: $3 per student

Students will be introduced to the world of chemical reactions as they experiment with polymer snow, slime, and even extract polymers from diapers. We’ll even give them some Sci-Quest slime to take home!

Solar System

Length: 30 minutes
Cost: $3 per student

Our Solar System is a place filled with mystery and wonder. Join us for a trip through the solar system and discover how big the planets are, how far away they are, and see chemistry experiments that will explore each of the different planet’s unique properties!

Volcanoes

Length: 30 minutes
Cost: $3 per student

From ancient myths to modern headlines, volcanoes are among the world’s most amazing phenomena. Discover the mighty forces inside a volcano as your students learn about the layers of the Earth, how volcanoes form, and make a mini-volcano in a test tube to take home with them.
