Enjoy your cells! Join us as we investigate these building blocks of all living things. Using iPad™ technology, come take a closer look at cell structure and function. Students will take home a slide of their own cells. This program will enhance your educational experience with Cells: Life in a Pond exhibit sponsored by NASA and HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology.

Fling it

Your students’ creativity will launch as they build their own catapult using the engineering design process. Students will be challenged to plan, create and improve their catapult as they complete this challenge.

Gripping Geckos

Your students will be amazed to meet Norma, Sci-Quest’s friendly gecko! Learn about where they live, how they eat and how engineers are inspired by gecko feet to make the next generation of Velcro using nanotechnology. Your students will make a gripping gecko to take home.

My Rock is Changing!

Give your students a hands-on look at how the rock cycle works. Students will take a closer look at the types of rocks and how they form and get a geode to take home. It is sure to be a “rockin” good time!

DNA Extraction Lab

DNA is the chemical blueprint for every living thing in our world. In this program, students will learn about the structure and function of DNA. Students will extract DNA from strawberries to take home.

Forensics
Length: 45 minutes

Students will put their crime fighting skills to the test as they learn about crime science, make and analyze fingerprints, and get a magnifying glass to take home.

Glow in the Dark Science
Length: 30 minutes

You won’t need a light to see how cool science can be! Students will investigate the different ways things can glow by doing hands-on chemical reactions, see how a glow stick works, and even get some glowing slime to take home.

Heart To Heart

This program will be sure to get your students’ hearts pumping as we explore the circulatory system. Students will learn the major components of blood, learn how blood typing works and even observe a real dissected sheep heart.

Jitterbugs

Make a robotic bug that will shake and shimmy all by itself! Using simple electrical components, students will discover how circuits and electricity work as they make their own robots.

Machine Mania
Length: 60 minutes
Cost: $6 per student
Gears, pulleys, axles and wheels – we’ve got them all! Examine the marvels of machines as students work in groups to create their very own contraptions from K’nex.
